Our Facilities
UgCS GPR training centre offers fully equipped workshops for hands on training and specially equipped airspace for airborne GPR field flights. Training centre is located at SPH Engineering's headquarter in Riga, Latvia (EU).
Our classes
UgCS GPR trainings are organised into two tiers. The "Airborne GPR" express course is for advances drones pilots wishing to add GPR to their survey service portfolio. The extended course is for teams with basic/none experience in drone related surveys, but with deeper dive into GPR data interpretation.
Our instructors
The airborne GPR trainings are led by experienced drone pilots who have taken part in development of the GPR+drone integrated system as well as taken part in different GPR survey projects for underground utility mapping, bathymetry, archeology, mining and glaciology and even for searching missing aircrafts.

An off-the-shelf or custom-built UAV based on DJI A3 flight controller, i.e. DJI M600/M600 Pro

GPR type is selected based on the survey's goals

Onboard computer ensures that radar's data logging is started automatically and geotagged with GPS coordinates of autopilot

Laser altimeter
Adding a laser altimeter to the system enables the flight in True Terrain Following mode at low altitudes - up to 1meter

What kind of experience is necessary to participate in GPR courses?
The full training course consists of several modules; each module corresponds to a particular skill set required for the successful use of a GPR system integrated with a drone. We assume that students (or at least one student in a group representing a single customer) have experience with manual drone piloting and with automatic flights using any ground control software.
How long does courses take?
The duration of the courses depends on the requirements but usually lasts from 2 to 4 days on average.
Do I need to bring my equipment?
No, it is not necessary. Training courses are fully equipped. Only recommended equipment is your laptop.
